Want to learn free of charge more about the PI System?
Focus of our labs is to enable you understand and work fast on your own with the PI system:

You should join if you are a OSIsoft PI User with interest in working with:
+ asset framework
+ smart and fast calculation of OEE
+ analyzing asset performance and setting up your own calculations
+ exchange with your peers about how to get out most of PI asset framework

This year our seminars focus on industrial analytics. Analytics is promising to deliver new efficiencies within critical operations. Join us to gain insights into:
  • The role of IoT, Edge, Cloud and Data Lakes within Industrial Analytics
  • Different analytics approaches for critical operations
  • Capabilities of the PI System to support your analytics
  • Best practices for industrial analytics
  • Analytics case studies

General Lab Information:The event will be held in English language. Hands-On Training Labs are a BYOD sessions (Bring your own device). This means you need to bring your own computer to complete the exercises during the lab.We will be unable to provide computers if you don't bring one. During the Hands-On Training Lab sessions you will be connecting with your laptop to our WIFI and the OSIsoft Training Cloud Environments.
Please note, at the event some pictures will be taken for marketing purposes.

SKAN, founded in 1968, is one of the pioneer companies in the field of cleanroom equipment and isolator design for the global pharmaceutical industry. Innovative products, customer-specific solutions and an efficient service organisation have led SKAN to become a global market leader and important partner for industry and research laboratories.

Analytics with the PI System

Illovo Sugar Africa’s Lloyd Melrose tells how it wasn’t an advanced or expensive project they used to improve overall OEE by 30% in a 3 month period. It just took simple reporting of the right information to the right people using the PI System.

PI-System Introduction
Attendees to the OSIsoft Regional Seminar are also welcome to join an optional pre-event OSIsoft PI SystemOverview session. This optional session will cover the fundamentals of the Modern PI System and is tailored for those that are either new to the PI System and would like an introduction to the technology or wishing to update and refresh their knowledge. This will finish with a Roadmap discussing product direction.

The PI System in the Manufacturing Line – Calculating OEE Across Your Factory

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is the standard for measuring discrete manufacturing productivity. It incorporates factors for production speed, defective parts and stop time to provide an essential metric for performance assessment. The PI System can help with all aspects of OEE, by merging the signals from PLC’s, scheduling systems and lab reports. It can be used to compare assets’ OEE score against each other and to track improvement over time. Whether your goal is to analyze micro stops across your line or to be informed at your daily shift meetings, having data collected and visualized in a PI System can help speed up your decision making, while providing standard and transparent reporting.

This course will cover the standard PI interfaces available to capture the required data from your production line. We will use of PI Manual Logger to capture manual entries like quality checks. Using this data, we will perform the required calculations within Asset Analytics and visualize the OEE metrics in PI Vision.

2:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Using AF to Analyze Asset Performance

Calculation of and immediate feedback on wind turbine performance is an important part of maximizing revenue from wind generation assets.  Waiting for a daily or monthly rundown of performance can cost thousands of dollars of lost production each day.  Monthly reporting costs precious time and resources that could better be used optimizing profit streams for a wind manager.

In this lab, you will learn how to use AF to calculate the expected power from a power curve and give immediate feedback on assets that are not giving their expected output.  We will look at tools to build feedback mechanisms into real-time displays as well as creating electronic notifications.  You will also learn how to use tools within the PI System to automate reporting functions such as site power rollups and reports of underperforming turbines.

5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Good drinks & Networking

My PI Story: Royal IHC & Rolloos

Daniel Stoyle of Royal IHC and Martijn Handels from Rolloos describe why they chose the PI System over cloud solutions when they needed to make large amounts of industrial data available to their customers. (Presentation “Fleet-Wide Remote Dredging Vessel Monitoring” from PI World Barcelona 2018)
