Description
Over the past 28 months, the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) has made significant advancements in its campus infrastructure management and 3rd-party services provider performance using the OSIsoft PI System. Improvements in billing accuracy and reliability, multi-system integration, infrastructure monitoring and outage alerts, and access to new data and visualizations have initiated the transformation of UMCP’s Facilities Management (FM) team from a reactive service model to an integrated, service management-focused organization. Utilizing newly centralized data from five sources and products including PI Vision and PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS, UMCP’s PI System is facilitating the realization of:
  • Faster electrical outage response times of up to 90 minutes
  • Up to 60% reduction in classroom energy use
  • Up to $500,000 annually in cost avoidance from mechanical room flood prevention.
With almost 450 buildings, over 15.5m gross square feet, and an on-campus Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant, these results will have wide-ranging benefits for the entire UMCP community.
