Name
Minimizing Environmental Impact with Analytics at a Wind Farm
Date & Time
Thursday, September 26, 2019, 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
Description
Duke Renewables has implemented measures to reduce the impact on the local seasonal bat population at a wind site. This is done by “feathering” the blades at low wind speeds (under 2 RPM) from dusk to dawn from April to mid-November every year. The bat curtailment analysis in Seeq is used to validate that the turbines are actually being curtailed. The results are reported to the Fish and Wildlife Department.
